Favorite thing about Gen 3 is the areas, the diving and the contests. There was just a lot of technical stuff you could do in the games. FRLG was also pretty fun as an improvement to Gen 1.

Favourite thing about Gen 3 is the Hoenn region. There's so much to explore and it just feels huge and organic. It's very well paced and each area feels different but not out of place.

In that rough order, so some combination of those

As far as what I like about gen 3, beyond nostalgia (not my first game, I played gen 1 at release and have intense nostalgia for Pokemania, but gen 3 came out when I was like 9-12 and I more clearly remember playing it with friends), is that hoenn itself is a really cool region

I loved Hoenn itself. Such a diverse and gratifying region to explore.

How diverse yet balanced it is in everything.
