I want to get into the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games, but there are so many. Which one should I start with and why? If you played them, what are your thoughts about them?

just play the first 2. after that they go 3D and start adding ugly nugen pokemon

I'd say the easiest one the get into for new players is Rescue Team DX on the Switch. It's the easiest to control and has great quality of life features. Explorers may have the best story in the franchise, but Rescue Team is a close second.

I would also like to add that DX only has Pokémon from Generations 1, 2, and 3, plus the evolutions of them that were added in later games (so some Gen 4 'mons and also Sylveon)
And while the graphics are 3D I would say they're still good and soulful.

Rescue Team and Explorers are great and better than a lot of mainline games. Avoid the Mystery Dungeon games released on the 3DS, especially Gates to Infinity that one is really mediocre.
