Even Platinum does.
Houndoom is conceptually one of the best executed animal + element's.
It's also valuable competitively in old gens thanks to its unique typing, high SpA and decent Spe, abilities, and access to Pursuit. Its movepool was also great.
Houndoom is one of my favorite Fire and Dark type Pokemon, and my favorite for its gen on those fronts.
