Playing Pokemon Blue

I just want to play Pokemon Blue with a free emulator on android.

I was hoping that you can give me the right advice without directing me towards fee-paying services.

I already have Pokemon Blue downloaded, but I am struggling with the emilator and the ROM.

How can I play this game on android?

Try the GBC one from https://github.com/Rakashazi/emu-ex-plus-alpha -- it's also on the Play Store as GBC.emu for $2.99 but that's more for convenience and as a donate version, since he posts his source code and current builds on Github for free.

The download is a zip with an apk inside it. If you haven't installed an apk from your file manager before, it will prompt you to give the file manager permission to install packages. Allow that and then it will go through. The only catch is these are prerelease builds so some bugs may be present, though I haven't noticed any significant ones. And since it's installed from outside the Play Store it won't update itself, but unless you see some bug or deficiency and he's fixed it, there's no reason to update a Gameboy emulator.

Sorry, when I downloaded that and tried to open my download of pokemon blue, it still tried to tell me that I did not have any apps to open Pokemon Blue and to try the apps store.

An apk is and installer for an app you get from outside the Play Store. You download it, copy it out from the zip file, and then tap on it in your file manager. First time it will prompt you to grant permission to install apps, then it will be install like any other app. Once the app is installed, you open the app and then browse for the ROM inside the app.
