Honestly, just open up your savefile with PKHeX and change the species.
Maybe put your mon into the PC and take them out to adjust their stats too. Also I think in gen 2 it might break the save file if you're editing a mon directly in your team.

I hacked Drizzle on a Quagsire for an ingame mono-water run, made my modified starter Staryu into a shiny one, and hacked all my mons to be in Dive Balls.
I had lots of fun.
What are you gonna do about it?

I agree. If you trade them through the normal process with the emulator's tool, is completely valid, tho. Only hacking unaccesible events like getting the mythical mons tickets is valid, because afaik you can't emulate things like the e-reader and the wifi servers on android emulators (I think both are possible on PC, but not sure the e-reader)

This is what I do. I reset the friendship and change the species so that it’s as close to the real deal as it mechanically. could be.
