Imagine a generation that had only gen 1, 2 and 5.

What would the meta be like?
Hard mode: no alternate forms. All Pokémon only have their base form. Sorry, Landorus, Meloetta and Keldeo.

>No overly centralizing Garchomp or Salamence
>No cross gen evolutions from gen 4
>No Stealth Rock

Basically nothing beats Hydreigon
That's the main problem with the DS era competitive meta, dragon pokemon were all overpowered

Most of the fucked up dragons were from gen 3 and 4; at least Hydreigon has prominent weaknesses.
Gen 5 only introduces Druddigon, Haxorus and Hydreigon, not counting legendaries.

Counterpoint - no Fairies means that Fighting-types are pretty damn good. Depending on availability of dream abilities most of them would be bullied by Shadow Tag Goths. I suppoae trifecta of Fighting/Psychic/Dark would be center of the game. Also OP is a faggot implying that no Pokemon in gen I, II and V learn SR but it's not part of their imaginary meta so ???????????

Is it using gen 5 mechanics as the base (No fairies, unlimited weather, gen 5 move tutors)? Because if it is, then it's probably going to be pretty similar to normal gen 5 OU. There are some notable losses, Latios being probably the most important, followed by Rotom, Jirachi, Garchomp, and Gliscor.

I think rain is a little better off than sand, but the real loser is weatherless HO teams, especially DragMag since they lost most of their dragons.

They also lost Magnezone, leaving them with only Magneton, who wouldn't be valid for Eviolite anymore. Unless you tried to use Magnemite, but I don't think it would work even with Eviolite.

Magneton isn't that much weaker than Magnezone, and none of the Pokemon it traps are going to make its lesser bulk apparent.

Gen 5 mechanics but remember that any moves introduced in gen 3 and 4 are out.

This includes Choice band, scarf and specs.

As for Pokémon like Gligar and Magneton who no longer evolve, help me out: would they be useless unviable shitmons or would it be better to give them a small stat boost? I think Gliscor is far too OP, but if Gligar had closer stats and no Poison Heal it wouldn't be too bad.

I somehow didn't realize that you meant there wouldn't be anything from those gens. In which case, massive sweeping changes due to everything's movepool being gutted.
Fighting type moves are all ass except for secret/sacred sword,
Dragon type doesn't exist, you have outrage, dragon tail, and dual chop for physical and dragon breath for special.
Same with steel types, only physical and none of the options are great.
No knock off means going back to thief for item removal, not that there are as many good items to hold. Lefties for everyone.
Rotom wash might be dead, unless it just becomes a thieving, paralysis spreader.
Reuniclus losing calm mind means it now has no snowball potential, which is huge.

I have no idea what would still be good, I'd need to spend a decent chunk of time looking at what pokemon can still accomplish something with their new movepools.

It has Salamence, who is fine, and Latios (and Latias), who is a legendary. So no.
