I don't get why people want Regigigas to not have his ability. His ability is part of his personality. It's not like Gamefreak does this accidentally or does not understand it makes him bad or whatever. They deliberately chose that to be his thing. Having Regigigas without slowstart is like having Venusaur without a flower on his back.

That being said, I think a held Energy Herb should be consumed to skip the Slowstart turns.

Thats pretty much the problem. It sucks competitively, but it also sucks casually.
The ability isnt fun because five turns is a really long time.

I agree that GF should do something with Slowstart, but removing Slowstart entirely would make Gigas really bland. Yeah, it's bad, but it is bad in a very specific way that gives it character. If you want a good Pokemon, there are a bunch for you to choose.

Maybe it starts with halved speed/attack but it's speed/attack raise one stage every turn indefinitely.

Put it in a game that also has a mon with an ability like neutralizing gas, where all the other abilities are disabled while that mon is on the field.

Done. Simple. That’s all it takes. Would still be bad in singles but slow start is absolutely part of its identity and everyone trying to change it to fewer turns or something is missing that.

Regigigas with no ability at all is an easy Uber.
All of its stats are okay in a vacuum, but are unmanageable when put together.
Maybe if it got an ability like Stall, which is still hindering but not to the same crippling degree as Slow Start.

Don't care enough to calc but post gen-9 with proper support it could probably just tera normal and then rip through mons with Crush Grip
Super bulky mon with huge attack stat spamming basically Double Edge with no draw back
Kind of like Melmetal but not slow

I think the best and simplest way to integrate it improve this ability would be to reduce the speed by half and no longer affect physical attack.
