That struggle whether to keep going as a Holo or focus on building a career in the "real world" when she was done with school has been in her mind for her entire Holo life now.
Over the last two years or so she then started developing chronic throat issues which showed no signs of improving, infact they've been getting gradually worse over time.
That obviously threw a huge fucking boulder on the scale she was weighting Hololive vs real world career on, if she was already having issues with her voice now pursuing vTubing as her life's mission really wouldn't be a great idea at all.
Presumably she then approached Cover about maybe getting a kind of super scaled back "Hobby Holo" position where she could basically keep existing in a sort of Gura-like state, but was turned down leading to these fights between management and her that she recently mentioned and ultimately her graduation when Cover didn't want to play ball and make concessions.
