Keep trying to push beyond that halfway point. Learning to push further is like learning to lift greater weight. Even if it's just a bit, every bit of familiarity with going beyond your present limit helps your systems and adds up.
If you don't already do something to work on your legs continually, I recommend at least doing squats. With the way it holds everything up, you'll feel a literal spring in your step and even your core will get stronger, so just getting out of bed will feel almost too easy after a time. Great feelings, really.
Personal experiences aside, just keep giving yourself a chance. Lots of things out there will try to bring you down. Don't add your own self to that list.
