They were better off getting a smaller venue without their help because something like this isn't even unheard of with Anime Expo. Unless it is a HUGE HUGE HUGE guest, a lot of these always end up never selling out, and they end up giving away free tickets.
There is a reasoning for this though, and that's because of essentially the doubled ticket cost. Let's say you don't give a rat's ass about Anime Expo, you don't care about the convention, and you still want to go see the concert. Well, fu ck you, not only do you have to pay the $50 to watch the concert, you have to pay upwards $80 for A SINGLE DAY ACCESS to see the concert.
Now, let's say you want to see all 3 concerts because you reaaaaaaaally love Niji! Instead of paying $140 for just one performance and one ticket, or $190 for both EN performances and a daily ticket, now you have to pay $315 for all 3 performances across two days. This is after counting the fact that if you're not even from that shithole state you have to pay out the ass for a last-minute hotel that is most likely hours away from the venue because all the good shit got taken up months ago when the tickets first went on sale.
They may actually see decent numbers for the live viewing, because the way it is now you have to be rich or a mental nutcase to want to go see this, even as a fan.
