I've been considering debuting as an indie male vtuber (not like I could debut as a female lmao), but I still need 6-12 more months of 日本語 practice (get from N3 -> n2/n1) + singing + piano practice. I don't want to gamble my whole future on it, but it seems like a fun time and a fun hobby. The whole variety streamer + singer/musician shtick seems a lot more fun than grinding one game until you're really good and building an autistic audience there. Although, realistically, I don't think many male vtubers will make it without agency backing.
