i still do "drop shadow" and "stroke text" (shown in pic related) manually in gimp (which for "drop shadow" technically has a difference, since idk how to disable the blur for it in inkscape), but that's only because i've never edited before, and i was worried that learning how to edit in inkscape might not scale well were i to look for tutorials. inkscape turns what takes me many pixel measurements (and being paranoid i fucked it up anyway) into just a few clicks. i haven't tried anything like sound effects, nor do i know of any other typesetter (or otherwise recommended) fonts to help you there
