Vtubing had great potential as its own original medium but instead it aligned itself with the lowest common denominator content you can find online: streamer/e-celeb culture. It works, makes money and has good viewership but it is creatively bankrupt.
Of all the things real-time anime characters could have been, they choose to be Amouranths behind an anime mask. Sad but it is what it is and it is never going to change.
