They look and play like any generic first person shooter you find on Steam, the games have no identity or anything interesting about them. As for being scary, RE was never scary. Silent Hill is the series for creepiness. RE just has spooky ambient music in the classic games but the generic hollywood zombies and giant animals ruin the creepy atmosphere they're hard to take seriously. Silent Hill is the true horror franchise. Some RE games are at least decent action games, the games appeal were never truly horror.
