Gatekeeping is rad because it's perfectly fine to have something niche continue to exist as a niche. The issue isn't people "taking your hobby," the issue is making sure that new people don't swamp out the depth for hardcores.
Hololive got bigger for normalfags, but they just watch clips, while streams have stayed 99% the exact same. That's how you keep a community alive, by filtration via multiple levels of depth instead of insisting on binary states of gates.
