The base game already has an expertly crafted character/deck roster with their associated mechanics which already is hundreds of hours of deckbuilding fun to go through but Downfall adds eight (8) new characters which are so fucking polished and clever they feel straight out of the base game. Some of them have similar or adjacent mechanics to base game characters, there's only so much design space after all, but still the central mechanics with every one of them are unique and support different deckbuilding concepts.
I will say that a few of the characters I do nod enjoy playing as their gimmick is a bit too many hoops to jump through for not that great a payoff (looking at you Hexaghost and Snecko). Or maybe I just don't get them and they're somebody else's favourite.
