You don't have to go to Japan to record things, how do you think anyone makes music or does voice recordings? Do you even realize what streaming requires for you to have in your personal possession? And you can sign merch anywhere (that's one of the most infamous things that takes up the popular member's time by the way, if fans hated it so much they could easily just stamp their names on everything instead).

How do you EN/ID retards explain away your oshi's as doing "idol shit" and "studio work". They are barely ever in Japan, where they have to be to do those things (some skip it altogether). And when they are in Japan they also get the one major opportunity they literally never have otherwise, the ability to actually interact with each other and do collabs. If they aren't doing that, it's because they choose not to.
