At this point nothing is a joke until proven otherwise, and her being a better streamer than a number of corpos makes it clear that it's only a matter of time before she announces her hiatus.
With that said Nijisanji is still a Japanese company presumably plagued by permissions bullshit and legal/public image concerns. Even if it's the obvious choice, that doesn't mean she'll transition well or get along with her genmates. Even if she does fit in well, she may become popular enough that white knights and numberfags ruin any conversation about her.
The sad fact is that as long as content restrictions and fanbase autism continue shitting on people's good time, only numberfags and the chuba themself would have any reason to celebrate an indie going legit.
