I am writing this articles with a heavy heart as a longtime friend of Felutia-hime—also known as “Fate.” Our friendship spans over a decade, long before the rise of Hololive. Though we have only known each other online, I have supported them through thick and thin.
Let me be clear: the issue of Felutia being male instead of female is not something I take offense to. In today’s world, everyone has the right to identify as they choose. That’s not what this letter is about.
What I cannot condone, however, is the use of someone else’s property damage photos to solicit donations.
As someone working in defense and security in Thailand, I was contacted by numerous people who asked me to verify Felutia’s recent posts. After checking with local authorities in Chonburi—where Felutia resides—I discovered that no such damage was reported. The timelines didn’t match up. Still, I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt.
But the situation escalated quickly. When confronted, Felutia claimed to be the artist behind their illustrations, only to later attribute some of the work to a “brother” working behind the scenes. This narrative continued to unravel until the real artist came forward—confirming that Felutia did not create the illustrations.
Most disturbingly, it came to light that Felutia had used photos of a friend’s earthquake-damaged home to elicit sympathy from foreign donors—raising hundreds of thousands of baht. When the friend exposed the truth, Felutia dismissed it as a mistake and shut down their Facebook and Twitter/X accounts… while leaving the donation page open.
So what’s real in all of this?
Based on what I know personally:
1. Felutia’s family factory closed due to COVID, leaving them financially strained.
2. A dispute over inheritance delayed access to their family’s assets.
3. Felutia claimed to be diagnosed with cancer while also taking care of an elderly mother.
4. To cover costs, they began selling off belongings, lost their previous job, and eventually turned to online donations.
As someone who has known Felutia for over ten years, I understand that asking for help in hard times is not inherently wrong. But using false or misleading materials to do so is unacceptable.
Why not be honest about whose damage it was? Why obscure the truth?
Felutia may be a person who has endured suffering—but intent matters. Today, after seeing the flood of information, both past and present, I feel deeply unsettled.
If there is any respect left for our friendship, I hope Felutia will come forward, accept responsibility, and apologize clearly—without excuses. The internet already holds the evidence.
I am not here to destroy anyone. I face enough enemies in real life.
But if a friend crosses the line, I will not defend them.
You called me throughout the day, and I told you, “There’s still a way to make things right.”
I won’t touch on other matters—this is enough. You’ve already shaken the trust of thousands of fans, including Hololive members who believed in your work.
And that alone has caused me more pain than I can put into words.
