One of the main goals of fiction is to engage the consumer which means not staying too long in one place, introducing new characters, having incidents occur as necessary, etc. There are no main characters in real life, no plots to fulfill, no convenient skipping to more interesting events.
Like you I've lived in the suburbs for all my life. Consider traveling like others anons have suggested. If you hate suburbia try to spend a day exploring a nearby city or do something /out/ related like camping. You'd be surprised how much even a small change of pace can get you back on your feet, or make you appreciate what you've got.
