Having grown up in Eastern Germany in the early 90s, there was still a lot of furniture from that era under Soviet rule around. I love it, there's a particular smell to the fabrics or floor material that I associate with lunch breaks at school, or hanging out at my mum's workplace or at my grandparents' after school.
Not nearly as opulent as the stuff you posted, but the prevalence of fabrics and wood reminded me of this.
