Do you think that is normal, or is something wrong? I am using a Sennheiser Game One, so It's not a cheapo mic. I've tested it on two different machines and get the same result. Is there anything I can do, besides using the noise reduction setting which makes the audio sound like crap anyways, to minimize the noise?

Did you try the microphone array level, or is that what you are referring to? If you go Control Panel > Sound > "Recording" tab > choose headset and click "Properties" > "Levels" tab > Microphone Array
Had the same problem where people on the other end said my fan standing some odd feet away sounded like a lawnmower right outside.

I'm not sure what you mean? It just has the volume levels. If I turn down the colume levels you're just not going to be able to hear anything. The boost makes it worse. These are what I have it set to right now.

If you're getting a lot of background noise on multiple machines, it's probably the headset. If you're using a desktop, plugging in the microphone to the back 3.5mm ports can sometimes help if you're using the front ports. Also in your screenshot you have your microphone volume at 100%, turn that down to 80% and try your test again. That's what helped me with my really cheap mic.

Also, you have a really nice voice.

If I turn it down though I'll will be too quiet to hear. That's not really solving the white noise problem, just kind of sweeping it under the rug. I tried both ports and get the same resault. I'm still very skeptical that it's the headphones themselves though.
