Its probably tinfoil hat theory, but if I had to hazard a guess it would be:
1.) There has been an actual, pointed effort erode away the "old" internet. The mass media has always treated this place as the seedy underbelly of the internet, when in reality, its just been like.../pol/ and /b/. So you might have, at one point, had a few shitheels that were easy to ignore. Now every single thread feels like its just being assaulted be retards who have stupid opinions and have to argue every fucking minuscule thing they can, just to get a rise out of others. They scrape reddit and google to find any and every complaint and/or picture of broken toys and then just repost them over and over again to show how shit that line supposedly is, and they act like disingenuous fags and pretend they're just trying to have civil discussions.
2.) Straight-up dead internet theory. Like so many other sites, this place has been flooded with bots (even moreso with the advent of AI) that spin up negativity, because shit posting drums up way more engagement than actual, thoughtful discussion.
