Back in the late 90s I used to go down to PCB. Drink on the beach, little margarita shacks, slutty southern chicks, getting in the back of pickup trucks, having a beer with bros fron Louisiana, jumping out down the toad. It was so white too. This is 25 years ago. I was at FSU.
My buddy was at Eglin for school and Destin seemed so fancy by comparison. We would hang out there and get dinner at harbor docks. Sometimes we’d party at Night Town because the drinks were cheap. lol. So as I got older I started going to Destin. It was fancier. I didn’t even know about seaside or anything.
I found seaside 15 years later after getting married. My wife and I would go for weekends away.
Anyway, one day I was driving down 30a and I stopped at Tom Thumb to get gas. Instead of going back to 98 I went east on 30a. I drove past these two white towers and I was like what the fuck? What is this?
I stopped a guy walking his dog, he said it was Alys Beach. I thought it was Alice. Lol. I googled it, bought a house a month later. Comfiest spot in the world, and I’d been in the panhandle
since the 90s and didn’t know about it.
I still love PCB and Destin and I always will. Nice that they’re so close
