this gives them a bit of leverage to choose their suppliers and go good-enough. e.g. their moser roth chocolate is really quite good and ended up winning prizes. (their guacamole not so much, but this tends to be an exception.) they are also known for choosing regional suppliers for eggs, milk etc.
they also strip away all the distraction of other supermarkets that steels your time and attention, e.g. they don't really put products in shelves.
