>>18898417>>18899248A slow dawning look of realization spreads over Andi Kestrel's face as LILLITH and Robyn piece together the clues for her.
>"My father? Yeah, a tall, thin guy; white hair, but not much of it. Glasses, probably dressed well....."She sees LILLITH blink and squint in concentration, but then nod.
>"He left me a letter! I've gotta go check!"Andi shovels a big forkful of cake into her mouth and dashes off to her room. This time, she finds the letter in her blankets. She holds it up, and tries to read her father's writing. She recognizes the shape of the writing, and his signature at the bottom. It's his, all right; he was here. Metaphorical, non-literal steam begins to rise from her head, and a faint odor of burning hair emerges, as her brain cooks itself with the effort of trying to read words. She's forced to stop for now. Despite extensive tutoring and remedial classes, Andi has always found reading very challenging under even ideal conditions, and her doctor father's hasty handwriting is anything but ideal. She comes back out of the room, holding the letter, and sheepishly looks at LILLITH and Robyn.
>"I guess my Dad did leave me a letter! Thanks for catching that, LILLITH. And Robyn, uhh..... this is embarrassing, but when we have some private time, could you help me read this? I think I mentioned, heh, I'm not good at reading."Andi chuckles to laugh it off, but can't really hide that she's kind of ashamed of this aspect of herself. She grips the letter self-consciously.
