I get all nervous and agitated in less than 5 minutes when visiting relatives where their TV is always on. I get used to it after a while, but i can literally feel myself getting dumber and all foggy-minded. You can choose to ignore it but your mind automatically slips back to it subconsciously, and it literally drags you down to a lower level of thought and keeps you there. It's the same if there is radio on at work, i was able to roughly tell the time after a few months just by hearing which song was playing, same song rotation all the time with few fresh additions, almost all of it modern soulless consumer crap. Told my boss i can't work in such an environment and bargained myself a right to change the station monthly. One of my friends working in a clothes store (New Yorker) wasn't so lucky though, they were stuck on one CD for 3 or 4 months. I would have gone mad. Reminds me of the scene from the movie Spun after he shuts the door. Damn.
