I just find this particular form of it more appealing than live action ones, for whatever reason. Maybe I'm a bit childish at heart. I agree about manga, though. There're some things in them that don't come across the same in anime, like the visual gags.

Notably, Western animators realize that having over-designed character is impractical for animation, leading them to appear simpler in comparison. Another is that, as I've elaborated before, the goals of the two are somewhat different. Anime is often more focused on the story, whereas Western cartoons can still produce some quality scenes in terms of the animation aspect of things. But in order to do this, the characters are sometimes made to be simpler.
