i think they intentionally used difficult audio for the practical to try and make sure people need to be at least semi-competent to get the job. there was other stuff like someone mumbling a word so that you're forced to mark it as inaudible, people stuttering/repeating themselves so that you have to make a call on omitting repetitions, and using someone's weird last name so that you have to google how to spell it
most of this stuff is covered in a "style guide" so it isn't that bad, they just want to make sure you'll refer to it in these sorts of cases. the jump to poor audio quality for less than 10 words is kind of mean though
