Anyone else feel like philosophy should have replaced religion?

I'm orthodox Christian convert as of last year (into the Coptic orthodox church), but recently I have been having doubts as I have studied the history of homo sapiens and how they went out of Africa and had sex with the only two other human species that isn't mentioned in the bible or any religious texts.
I feel most inclined to adopt cynicism in the way that diogenes practiced but with weed and shrooms.
I don't know if it's me, but I feel like Christianity was started because Jesus found a flaw with the society that he lived in and breaking social norms and conventions that the likes of the day has issues with him over, his movement started and as a reactionary movement against Judaism and it's legalistic culture. Orthodox Christianity is true Christianity and is way better than protestantism and Roman Catholicism, but at the same time I keep having this feeling that it was started as a way to troll the Pharisees and the Jews that didn't follow Christ.
Also correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't God originally just another Canaanite deity called "el" by the Sumerians or something, of which the Israelites back then took that God and only worshipped him, if that's the case and religion is false I wouldnt have an issue adopting diogenes or antithenes cynic philosophy and apply it to everyday life.
