Which isn't much, but it is for the beginning of the game. Hunting is pretty much the best way to make money at this point, besides grinding quests.
Not that it helped me out much here. I'm pretty sure I spent more in ammo than I got from skinning any mutants. Plus it would've been helpful to keep that shotgun.
On top of that, my Makarov deteriorated to the point where it jams now. That's because when you play on survivalist everything you start out with has 70% durability. Not much of an issue since it's really cheap to repair and won't serve me any use after I buy literally any other weapon (which I did) but it did make me panic a little while fighting those mutants. The pistol is the gun you're supposed to bring out when your primary jams, you don't want it to jam on you as well.
And talking about the PM, the single magazine issue wasn't much of an issue after all. I had to kill 4 bandits in the car park with it, and it was pretty easy. By shooting at them from a hill where their AI isn't even allowed to try to hit me back. And I still got hit once when I tried to get close.
I also overestimated how long it'd take to reload, it only took like 6-7 seconds. Just that you don't want to be doing that while fighting something near you, because you're not able to move while refilling magazines. Pretty chill while the thing you're fighting is far away.
It probably would've been a different story if I had ran into any mutants, but I got lucky.
Didn't last long, either. I remembered that there's a trader in the farm, and he was selling PM magazines. I may at some point end up going back to him to buy weapons, he sells a lot of good stuff at the start of the game without you having to build up any reputation first. He's pretty broken, I'm 80% sure they left him in the game as an oversight.
Charlim.
