Same thing will happen here on Earth pretty shortly. It has started with choosing to eradicate genetic disease, and will gradually move to other choices - hair color, eye color, larger brain, etc.
And just like with vaccines, the doctors and medical establishment will be totally honest in their dealings, and won't influence the process at all, and certainly won't make any genetic modifications that benefit themselves
