>Do you own it or just work for it?A little of both. You see when I was a kid I worked for it under my dad but when we moved to Utah he shut the business down since he wouldn't be working for it anymore. When I was 22 I revived the business as the sole proprietor and ran it out of northern Utah with a nice client base. A year ago I moved back to Nevada and got in contact with our old contracts to get things like Victorias Secret, JCPenny and Ross back under my belt. As the sole proprietor I could hire anyone I wanted temporarily (mexicans) as long as I was the only one on the payroll making $20-30/hr. (which is low for handyman work). After overhead I'd make about $15-20/hr. if I needed help. When my dad moved back here to Vegas he wanted to take the business back and get another license so we could have me, him, my wife and my brother on the payroll to make it a family oriented business so I had to officially hand it back to him. Now I'm the co-owner so I have to help negotiate with our contractor Exteriorscapes to get us through the merger. The way it will work out is I'll be one of the 3 owners getting 1/4 of the profits of a $100,000+/yr. company that will employ hundreds of people and have fleets of handymen ready to do anything all over the valley. With the merger we'll be able to expand everything to the point of the 3 of us pretty much being able to sit in our offices telling mexicans what to do.
So I own part of it and work for it. Here's my work truck full of lights and shit.
