The reason everyone doesn't "fly off the earth" like you might expect to happen based on something like a merry-go-round, is because they're different.
A merry-go-round is a 2D-plane, meanwhile Earth has atmospheric pressure that holds things down. And the atmosphere could likely be trapped due to the magnetic field.
