Maybe it's because I have a STEM background, but the measuring system you use is completely arbitrary. You should use the system that is most convenient for the situation.
Like in a lab, almost every single experiment you do will invent their own measuring system that is convenient for the situation. You will only convert back to standard units later on when it's time to communicate your results. When you take data, just use whatever measuring system works for the situation.
Like on a sailing ship. They measured horizontal distance in miles, upward distance in feet, downward distance in fathoms, and speed in "knots". That's because these units are convenient for them, because their world is pancake.
So why the autism of forcing the entire society into this metric system? The metric units are completely arbitrary as well. I know they wanted it to be 1/3,000,000th of the earths' circumference or something like that. But then they realized their measurement of the circumference was slightly wrong, so they were forced to drop the holier-than-thou and just standardize it based on some arbitrary wavelength of light, or something like that. In other words, it's a mess. And you are so passionate to force everyone to use this system, I think because you want to feel like you're smarter than other people.
