>>11567472i have a similar but different problem where most of my relatives are either 10 years younger or 20-40 years older than me. there's one guy in my age range and he is quite literally a furry pedophile. aside from that guy i don't really mind anyone else it's just that i don't have much to say to any of them other than monologuing about what's going on in my own life
realized i didn't answer your question. historically it's been at my grandparents' house but ever since my grandpa died my grandma has started developing acute dementia and my aunt/uncle monopolize the house living with her so in the past year or two we've moved celebrations to our house when possible since that place is a mess and the change of scenery helps ol gram be less confused
fuck if i know, which is my point. most holidays at least vaguely try to grab onto their roots but halloween and valentine's day are the exceptions.
like sure christmas might be largely about getting presents and santa claus but it's still got a lot of religious aspects to it. even thanksgiving people always joke about getting together and having a big meal to appreciate their good fortune "like the pilgrims"
meanwhile i think there are maybe 1 or 2 people i know tops that could tell me the origin of a single tradition for halloween or valentine's day let alone "what it's all about"
