I’m a zoomer but what I can gather from based gen xers and based boomers was that literally nobody discussed “conspiracy theories”. Conspiracy theorist wasn’t a derogatory term for right wingers because it wasn’t a thing.
More importantly though the transformation of media being only accessible from a pc desktop/television set to being accessible to everyone instantly from a mobile phone was detrimental. I barely remember this sort of thing from when i was a kid but i do remember that my family (who was not poor by any stretch of the imagination) only had 1 single computer in a house of 5 people. My parents would tell me that kids who had a tv/computer in there bedroom were spoiled and that I would have to be much older before I would be allowed to have one to myself, let alone keep it in my bedroom. My picrel sums this up nicely.
