>>22080907Not to rattle your worldview, but in 1 Sam 15:3 God definitely told Saul to genocide the Amalekites, and then when Saul left some animals alive it was the last straw that made God take his kingdom away.
Note that I don't shy away from calling that based, because if you take off the filter of modern peaceful living you quickly arrive at the conclusion that if you go to war and leave anyone alive, you'll have to put up with them lobbing rockets at you over the fence forever. When the power ceiling is raised to deciding life and death for people, you don't get out with your hands clean, but at least in 100 years you can guarantee a population that's so detached from violence they judge you and piss on your grave. That's a good thing.
I wouldn't know where to begin justifying it. I guess if you run it all the way up the chain of command to God that'll get the fedora wearers condemning your God, and I get it, but at the top of the dog pile if you start making decisions based on your own whims you still have to aim the nukes eventually, and that's a lot of responsibility for your own puny rationale to handle.
