What's less common--only every 20 years or so--is a Jupiter/Saturn grand conjunction. One's happening in 2020. This year it's happening on the Winter Solstice, Dec. 21st.
They say the Star of Bethlehem was a Grand Conjunction. The Alfonsine Tables from the 1200s predicted them with great accuracy. I'm not sure when the last time one coincided with a solstice was, or when the next time will be, but could be millennia.
