It was a time of gaudy obnoxious maximalism where people made offensive things for the sake of being offensive. Hair metal, bright flashy colors and terrible violent slasher movies. And then the other side consisting of religious puritans bitching about societal archetypes of yesteryear that was one of the most politically correct times in history that tried to get cartoons pulled off the air because someone used the word "damn". And these two groups didn't really accomplish anything except slinging shit at eachother because they were different.
There's a grand total of about 3 things that came out of this decade that didn't age like milk left in the hot sun.
The only good thing about this blight of a decade was that you could make fun of it. And people have done that so much I think they've forgotten how serious they were being.
