It has both MMO and battle royale elements where you get quests but when you die in a raid you lose your gear.....which is really easy. This is not a game for pussies and no-guns.
I think it's the game of the year but I'm biased because I love hyper realistic shooters and I've become quite the Tarkov Chad lately.
Lemme just rant for a sec about this shit. There's no minimap, no crosshair, minimal hud, no map (there's maps of different locations but they're paper maps) and the internal comms are just you talking to your homie so other people can hear it. Sound is integral in this game from talking to listening and sometimes staying absolutely still as a four man team runs right over you hiding in a bush. No headset? You best uninstall son. Don't like to be on mic? Again uninstall son. Until you can learn to make noise at the right times you're gonna need to run with a team and communicate.
Then there's shooting. Dear god the shooting. When you move. That affects your aim. How much your crouched affects your aim. How fast you're moving. Whether or not you have an optic. Then if you stand still and don't hold your breathe to stabilize your sights you're not hitting shit. God forbid you didn't zero your sights to 100.
Oh yeah and the guns. This is a gunsmithing game that's too realistic for its own good from being able to build guns from parts you find or buy to multiple ammo types based on the real thing right down to the ballistics. You won't be punching through level 5 armor with 9mm....at least not quickly.
Healing is complicated with multiple steps. Crafting is fucking nuts. Grenades have shrapnel. Ricochet chance can turn your helmet into death for your teammates (took a ricochet to the leg last night that almost fucked me). No kill cam.
Just. FUCK. It's so good if you're really looking for a shooter challenge.
