>>23380828Russia also does that in their psyops. (Targets both far-left and far-right communities in the West, mostly through Internet and social media which is a goldmine for easier mass-disseminated propaganda and shilling.)
Where I went to college there was a professor arrested many years ago because he was legit a Russian spy kek. Came out after a few years, there were some minor news stories about it you can find online on quite a few reputable outlets. There were reviews of this professor online too, on that RateMyProfessor website, and stories from years back, before he was discovered as a spy and vanned, of this guy being the ultra-leftist academic type, pretty hostile to various conservative views, and viewing America and its Western allies as an axis of “White supremacist neo-imperialist capitalist exploitation and dominance of the world” etc… This is the leftist angle Russian outreach ops use, also the key concept of multipolarity and tying it to Third Worldism, Russia as standing up for nations in the world “oppressed by the West and US hegemony”, parts of the global South, Africa, and BRICS, etc.
Ironically the other angle is, similarly, they also go to far-right or right-adjacent circles online and say, “Russia is based and trad, we’re against the LGBTQ+ cult, we have very strong conservative traditional values and the religion of Russian Orthodoxy, we’re your White brothers, we’re against the globohomo multiculturalist cult of the U.S., NATO, EU and Five Eyes allies, we’re protecting Ukraine from being drawn into the globohomo and mass migration cult, etc.”
So it’s pretty similar to what the OP is saying overall.
Shady world out there, folks.
