I bought my VX-1680 for $120 and spent another $40 on the second FX processor upgrade card. It's not exactly the easiest thing to MASTER but getting going with recording, effects, automation, etc. isn't costing me a lot of time and it's so much nicer than working with a computer-based multi track recording setup.
