It's certainly not that Colby Jefferson wasn't affected by her recent troubles. Her birthday party had been reduced to shambles by the hated arch-enemy that she allowed to deceive her into believing that they had commonly-held values, and she had no doubt that Miss USA felt that she had honored their "truce" on a technicality, even as she now planned Colby's destruction and that of her friends. Even her friendly match with Surfer Girl had ended in a punishing loss. Her other rivals, Warhorse, seemed all too ready to wash their hands of her. And Amy Flame, who had been a benevolent pillar of strength to her throughout their relationship, had blamed herself for everything and laid down on the dungeon floor to await punishment, raising several grave concerns in Colby for the first time.
It was all pretty terrible, honestly.
But there came a time when a proper lady (though Colby was unsure how much of her own embracing of that role was merely a reaction to Miss USA) must make a point of carrying on with her head held high. If a mess around the mansion that the servants would clean up was the worst Miss USA could do, Colby counted herself lucky. If she had lost a match or two she would rather not have lost, it was only cause to focus harder on her next match, and the victory to come. If Amy had found herself in a time of weakness, then it now fell to Colby to show strength in support of her.
If Miss USA wanted to be the cause of even one more single fucking teardrop shed by Colby Jefferson, she'd have to kill her and squeeze it from the eyes of her dead skull.
