Catholicism holds most definitely that Jesus Christ paid the price for sin. At the same time, here are verses that should be examined:
1 Corinthians 6
>Fly fornication. Every sin that a man doth, is without the body; but he that committeth fornication, sinneth against his own body. Or know you not, that your members are the temple of the Holy Ghost, who is in you, whom you have from God; and you are not your own? For you are bought with a great price. Glorify and bear God in your body.Revelation 21
>There shall not enter into it any thing defiled, or that worketh abomination or maketh a lie, but they that are written in the book of life of the Lamb.Matthew 15
>Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man: but what cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man. These verses establish several important points. According to these verses, men can spiritually defile their bodies through sin (even those who accept that Jesus Christ is God). However, according to Revelation, nothing defiled can enter into heaven. How can a saved Christian defiled by something as simple as using sinful language (Matthew 15) enter into heaven? The answer is that of the purification of said defilements before entering into heaven. This is what Catholicism calls purgatory.
