fructose causes larger blood sugar spikes than most kinds of sugar. it is a simple sugar, a monosaccharide. table sugar is a disaccharide.
also beets are a large source of sugar. onions and (real) carrots are very sugary too.
i did the whole keto "carbs are evil" thing for years, but i found that i can keep a decent weight if i just eat lots of fat with the carbs. just lower the glycemic response, that's all you need to do. add in cheese, butter, olive oil etc and you will be fine to eat some sugar now and again.
