Prices for a lot regular groceries have gone down due to corona though. The cartels who own all the stores were probably scared people would start opening their eyes to how much they're getting screwed on prices for no reason other than profits.
Although they may have done so anyway given how easily the stores could lower prices without suffering significant issues. In most cases prices have been lowered by close to half. Some things have been cut by more than half.
Of course it's being spun as generosity when they're getting increased subsidies anyway.
