A wholphin is a hybrid animal that was the result of a female bottlenose dolphin mating with a male false killer whale. Both of these animals are from the delphinidae family, meaning that they are both dolphin despite the latter’s name.
The first wholphin that managed to survive was Kekaimalu born at Sea Life Park, Hawaii on May 15, 1985.
Kekaimalu in turn mated with two different bottlenose dolphins and had three calves, two of them managed to survive.
