>>15963151>I've done this and it still feels like I didnt actually do anythingyou are doing something tho. It's a skill to be able to use multiple refs. That's how pretty much every professional artist uses em. Refs are yr best friend w art. Nothing is 100% original, its all just amalgamations of things you've seen before. imo the more u copy the more "original" yr work can be bc you've consumed a lot of artworks which builds up yr visual library which means u have a wider variety of things u can pull bits and pieces from U gotta change yr mindset abt copying. It's impossible to do anything if u haven't seen how to do it. It's how u learn languages, how to feed yrself.. ect
I think this is a good example:
https://youtu.be/KKRodazzFZkIf u have the time/attention span to watch the whole series it shows his entire process of painting and he explains how and why he makes certain decisions
The first part of the series is on techniques and some theory stuff which is really useful too
U learn a TON from watching artists work. imo realtime is better bc u see every single stroke, every mistake, everything.
Speedpaints r good too for when u don't have a couple hours to spare. or u could watch the realtime ones in a bunch of sessions (that's what I did)
Draw exactly the things you want to draw no matter how shitty they are bc the more u do it the better u get. Keep all yr artwork and date them so u can see yr progress. It's like working out, u don't actively see the gains but when u look back a couple months or years u see a huge difference.
Don't worry abt not improving fast enough or anything bc 1 yr doing it for fun and 2 everyone learns things at different speeds. Art is a skill, the more u practice the better u get. Nobody starts off good. Talent is a lie, it's really just that some ppl are more attuned to certain things than others which happens to help them. Like having really steady hands, or being able to visualize things easier.
