If you were a net gain to someone, anything, in someway, you shouldn't worry what prerequisite whatever creator god has for humans to enter his good boy zone of the afterlife. It might not even work that way in the end.
Being at peace with yourself is the most important check mark you want at the end of your life. I'm not saying Religion is incomparable with this line of thinking, it's just that there are so many out there, whichever one you chose is just a gamble made in blind faith. What if it was some obscure religion that had it right in the past that is now forgotten?
